Hi there! It's been a long time since we've updated our blog and Brooke threatened to take us off of hers so I figured it was time!
A lot has happened since I came back from Florida 3 months ago! So much, I don't know where to start but I'll try.... here go's!
In the middle of July, Bryan got a new job in Indy. He now works at Verizon in Westfield but works for a subcontractor who does work with Verizon. At first, he didn't really like it but then he slowly got used to the job, made some new friends, and discovered that he had previous friends that worked there so now he likes it! He got the job just in time because our lease was up on July 16 and he started on the 14th.
After he found out but before he started, we had to find a new place to live so we began the dreaded search for apartments. Luckily, we found one just in time and it was the nicest place we could find, was in a decent area, and had good deals so we didn't go broke! We had a few problems with move in and to make a long story short, we have an even nicer place than what we thought we would with more square feet, an extra bedroom, and washer/dryer hookups for about $60 more a month!!!
As soon as we found out that he got a job in Indy, I began my search but knew that wasn't going to happen over night. I was reluctant to leave because I had really grown to love a few people that I worked with but knew that it was something I had to do. Thankfully, Terri and Larry were gracious enough to open their house and arms to me and allow me to stay when ever I felt and however long I felt! It was super nice of them and definitely appreciated because even after the first week, that hour drive at 6am was wearing me down. I would get up around 5:15-5:30 (depending on how I wanted to look) and leave the house no later than 6:20 to make it to West Lafayette by 7:45 all to do it again in 8 hours!
I had a two interviews and a job offer at Beech Grove Hospital doing what Angie does but was holding out for IUPUI or Butler because I felt it was necessary that I stay with a college because of all that they offer and I also felt the transition would be easier. I finally got a job as an Administrative Secretary for two doctors at Indiana University Hospital but work for IUPUI. I was really happy but at the same time, really sad. I was sad because I loved staying with Terri and Larry. As you all may know, I don't have my family here but when I stayed with them, I felt like I was home and that I had my family right by me. So, like most birdies leaving the nest, I gave Mom and Dad (Terri and Larry) a hug and a kiss, told them I loved them, and "moved out".
In that time, Bryan and I have a new niece, baby Avery Elizabeth Huber, two second cousins, and one first cousin on the way and my good friend Heather had a beautiful baby girl. We went to XFest (Hinder, BuckCherry, Candlebox, Bullet for my Valentine, Puddle of Mud, and Apocolyptico) with Johnny and Jessie, I had a girls night in Indy with Heather and Sharon (my girls from work), Mom flew up and stayed with us for a little bit, we had our two year anniversary in September, and have taken many trips around Indy to find out what there is to do!
Most recently, last weekend, Bryan and I and Terri and Larry went to visit Brooke, Derek, Allie, and Avery. We left on Friday night (Jessie babysat the "kids" for us!!) and arrived around 11pm. We woke up early, made the short trip to King's Island where we stayed all day and partly into the night! It was my first time but everyone else had taken family vacations there for many years. It was great to hear everyones childhood stories and see Allie ride her first rides! On Sunday, we woke up early again (when I say early, I mean about 9am, which is early for me on the weekend!!) and headed to the lake. There, the big kids rode on the jet ski's and the boat. I got to watch Bryan try to wakeboard (he got up once for a couple of seconds!) and was very proud of him even though I could tell he was extremely frustrated. I didn't get to watch Brooke or Derek because someone had to get on the jet ski so it wouldn't float away, and then I had to ride away as to give them room to boat :( so I didn't see much! The funny thing was, while I was away, my jet ski died and I was stranded in the middle of the lake by myself, no one would stop to see if I was ok, and I forgot to put on sunblock! Needless to stay, I felt like one of my favorite movies (Cast Away w/ Tom Hanks), sunburned, alone, and desperately needing chapstick! Thank God my jet ski died right in front of the cove where everyone was, they found me, and we eventually packed up to go home! It was a really fun weekend with some much needed time with the family!
Wow, I know that I am overlooking a lot of things here but that is a quick recap on what has happened in the past 3 months! We'll try not to let the next posting go for another three months either!
